I will encourage your style of using this "anyone-can-do-it-art" for personal growth, and guide you with kindness and compassion, as you explore your inner world.
You can use a variety of simple art processes:
Visual art
Writing
Dance
Music
Drama
Nature
You will find your art path and have the help you need.
I will provide the structure you need to be comfortable, as you remember the playfulness you knew as a child. Play allows the mind to learn unexpected things. Your art images can help you make surprising discoveries for yourself.
You will guide your own art-making and sharing, as you journey to your imagination, find your inner images, and explore the gifts held within them. You can discover insights and resources for your life.
This art-making benefits your whole family, because you can learn to relate to them differently. Healing yourself is the best thing you can do for your children.
I had BIG doubts about making art. After my divorce, my very first counselor said to me, "Draw your feelings." That first felt pen drawing was very child-like. I didn't go to that counselor again, because it was too expensive. I kept drawing with felt pens, then tried pastels, and then water colors. No classes - I just kept making art.
I added expressive movement, sound, and writing to the mix, until finally I walked into a performance art class called "Soul Stories" and filled with inadequacy said, "What am I doing here?!!?" After many small in-class performances came forth, I put them all together into a one-hour performance called "Finding the Lost Spark". Below is a 5-minute video of the beginning and end of that show.
So, yes, doubts are a part of the process.
